Heavenly Father, though You receive me in Christ, I am not unmindful of my sins nor my lack of conformity to Your Son. The perfections of Your Triune Being and character tower above me. Your Holy Spirit deals mercifully with me in giving me to see my shortcomings and transgressions. I confess my waywardness and ask for Your forgiveness. I don’t serve Christ with fervency of spirit. I don’t always abhor what is evil nor do I cling only to what is good. You have seen that I am not always patient in tribulation and that my love and hospitality don’t extend far into the world. Forgive me, Father, for my poor witness to the glory of Christ. Teach my feet to walk in Your commandments, loving You with all my heart and loving my neighbor as myself. Make me a holy and contented person. Enable me to work out my salvation in fear and trembling, to walk before Christ the King with a firm and trusting step. Give me power to live as Your child in all my actions and complete Your work in my life until the day of Christ Jesus. In Christ’s name I pray. Amen.
