Confession2

Holy Father, we have sinned against You times without number.  We have been guilty of pride and unbelief, of failure to keep Your law, of neglect to seek Your honor with our lives.  Our sins are reflected in the state of Christ’s church and the state of our nation.  Yet, You have determined that our sins will not stand against us, for You have laid them on Christ, Your son.  He has become our hope, His blood our peace, His righteousness our strength, His condemnation our freedom, His eternal priesthood, our comfort.  Go on with Your patient work through Your Word and the Holy Spirit, using all the means of grace in our lives.  Purge us from every false desire, every base aspiration, everything contrary to Your rule, everything that dims the brightness of Your glory in us.  May Your Son be glorified in us this day.  Forgive us, cleanse us, strengthen us, that we might serve You aright in this generation.  We pray in Christ’s name.  Amen.
